JVC XV 523 Hack?

Cole (Harmless) posted this on Saturday, 13th January 2001, 17:29

I need this hack to play my region 1 player on some Japanese (region 2) DVD`s.. I am willing to mod my system if anyone has any information about that, or, preferably, I would just like to hack it. please respond if you have any info at all.

No hacks as of yet m8 :(

www.techtronics.co.uk will mod them for a scary £84!! I`d wait however as all other JVC players are hackable and so i`d be suprised if a hack isn`t found....

Good point. I`ll stick my time out for this one. Hopefully it won`t be too long.

Off of a previous post by lievn, I received the info to get into a test mode. This may unlock the secrets so I will retype it for all you guys that need it and could help figure it out.

Unplug the player.
Hold "play" and "Open/close" on the front panel down throughout all of this
plug the player back in
"Test JC 1" is displayed on the front panel.
Press "3d-Phonic" and :V-replace pops up.
Mess around until something happens and allows it to work....... (IS THIS THE WAY>?????)

I have also seen this on another website, I tried it but have had no luck as of yet, the player also spins up if you press FWD or REV, I also contacted JVC about it their reply was:

Due to the argreement laid out by the software (movie) manufactures for the Region System used on DVD player we are unable to help further with your enquiry as we do not have such information.

Also, any attempt to change the specification of our products will bring
the unit outside of terms of warranty if it ever need repair.
