You need to ensure you make a "Data Disc" rather than an audio or a video disk.
Also check carefully all instructions in the "readme file" that should have come with the hack-file. In particular, it will be probably tell you to make that data CD with a specific "Volume name" (the name of the CD as far as any CD/DVD player is concerned).
Without the correct volume name the CD won`t be recognised by the target DVD system.
The DVD player will then effectively boot from the data CD and rewrite/overwrite its flash memory with the new code that is contained in a file on CD.
Print off all instructions in the readme file before you proceed.
The procedure is somewhat similar to re-flashing a PC`s BIOS chip (normally done with a specially wrtten floppy disk).

Chris Muriel.

Post the URL for the location of the hack and I will download and have a look at it.
I may then be able to offer further advice.

This might also help others.
When I found a hack file for my own Sanyo DVD-X5 , I automatically posted my findings , including URL, here in the forum - to help others.

Reviewing all the posts in this forum , the vast majoirty seem to be from "freeloaders" either saying "Gimme, gimme ! " or asking to be emailed the hack.

In my view this is not the way to run a good self-help forum.

CHRIS

My request for the Volume name of the CD, comes from your notes see below.
Can you help ?

Sure- that was a generalised "how to" for re-flashing DVD players.

I cannot comment specifically on the hack you have for the Sanyo model you have unless I have the relevant files, details, or a URL so I can download and review them.
