Personally, I wouldn`t go for Alba, but the 45 looks nice. Chances are it`ll be multi-region out of the box.

the dvd45 which the stores have is a dvd45xi, which incidently is identical to the alba dvd108!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

the Alba 45 is in fact the 45xi and is multi out of the box! plays cd/r mp3 but not vcd as far as i know! If any one know a hack for the vcd/ svcd it would be appreciated!

To make it Multi Region:-

Turn on your DVD
Open disc tray
punch in 2812
You should get a menu, press ENTER until 9 appears
thats it

I`ve just found a hack on the net for the Alba 45
a)Turn on DVD player
b)Open disc tray either on the player or on the remote
c)Press 2812
d)menu should pop up-press ENTER until 9 appears
e)It`s now region free

Having said that i`ve also read that it comes out of the box region free i have yet to receive my model to try it out. Good luck
