ANYBODY HAVE THE DOWNGRADE FIRMWARE FOR PHILIPS DVDR 880
I`VE RECENTLY PURCHASED THE PHILIPS DVDR 880, I PURCHASED A MOVIE OFF SKY BOX OFFICE, AND DISCOVERED THAT IT COULD BE RECORDED WITH THE DVDR 880, I THOUGHT SKY HAD FORGOT TO SCRAMBLE THE FILM SO I PURCHASED A DIFFERENT FILM, IT RECORDED, I CONNECTED A ANOTHER DVD PLAYER TO THE DVDR AND FOUND THAT MACROVISION WAS DISABLED, AND I COULD BACK UP MY DVD COLLECTION, I WAS GETTING PROBLEMS WITH DVD R+ DISCS, AND PHILIPS INFORMED ME TO UPGRADE MY FIRMWARE, THE UPGRADE HAS NOW MADE MY DVDR COPY PROTECTED. COULD ANYONE PLEASE, PLEASE HELP ME DOWNGRADE MY FIRMWARE FROM F12H.

Sorry to be the bearer of sad tidings, but once you`ve upgraded, you can`t downgrade a Philips machine. It`ll tell you UP-TO-DATE and then spit the disc out at you.
You`re much better with the newer firmware if it`s any consolation. FF12H is, I believe, a much more stable version, but you`re still behind the times as the latest firmware for the machine is FF12T which gives you better disc recovery abilities. As for macrovision, you`d be better off with a macrovision removal dongle or cable (readily available from a number of sources) which will strip the spoiler signal. Expect to pay £30-40, but they`re handy in all kinds of ways.
However - and as a contributor to this site I have to follow the official line - you should be aware of three things:- you`re breaking the law backing up DVDs and recording from Sky is a breach of your contract with them. Oh, and by the way, it`s not the best way to make friends on the internet by posting in all capital letters. It`s like screaming in a library. :D

If you`re burning a CD from the files on the Philips website, to save making a coaster (like I did :/ ) Extract the files to a folder, then copy the contents to a CD-R set up for "CD-ROM (ISO)" and then: "No Multisession", "ISO Level 1", "Mode 2/XA" and "ISO 9660". (These instructions are for Nero Burning ROM, I`m not sure about settings for other burning software.) Best of Luck.
