I have just found that you can switch between regions with out a mod chip, there is a switch at the back of the player, then just change ya TV to NTSC or PAL60 and all regions will work. Thanx for the advice anyway.

Hi V, Where is the switch? What is it near. There is no spare switches on the back of mine that I can see.

Thanks for your help.

I found thaf if you press the Pro logic button on the front of the system, while it is in standby mode, you are able to select between the different regions.

I have however been unable to play an NTSC disc, "NTSC C1" appears on the television screen.

Anyone know what the above means?

Any updates yet by anyone???

Found this on http://www.regionfreedvd.net/player/samsung.html (down the bottom of the page). My problem is however that a Cold Start seems impossible on 945D. Also the number key presses display the "no entry/no smoking (circle with diagonal line)" sign/symbol on the top right of the screen. Help appreciated. Thanks

"Samsung Max945D"

Before I found this hack, the numbers were visible on the screen when I pressed them after the Repeat button.

This hack will make them disappear and 02 will appear.and you can convert your player in a multi-region player.

Try this:
1. No disk in the tray

2.Cold start the Player (hold down play and stop on the Player for three seconds).

3.When the language menue appears press 3,8,7,6,7 on the remote in sequence ( I´m not really sure if I pressed it fast in a row or if I waited for each number to appear. Try it first in a fast way, if it doesn´t work try it slow.).

This seems to unlock somethig.

4. The DVD screen will appear.Press now Repeat,3,8,7,6,7 (the numbers should not appear on the screen anymore. If they do cold start and try it again).
The number 02 will appear on the screen for a short time.
Now press the button for the region you require(1=R1 etc.) or press 9 for an auto select mode.

5. Press open/close on the Player to open the disk tray.

6. Press Standby(DVD Power) on the players remote to close the tray.
Next time you turn the player on , you will have a multi-region player (or a player set to the region you specified).
If it doesn´t work close the lid after opening it, and press Standby afterwards.
This worked perfectly fine on my player. And I had the same problems like FM(described in earlier threads) before.
If anybody knows how I can check this, please tell me.

To disable the macro try following:

Rehack the player in the method used originally,
Insert a REGION 1 disc when you open the tray during the hack, and leave it in when you close it.
Continue to the end of the hack.

To see if your macro is disabled loop your DVD over a VCR.

To max021

A cold reset on the 945 is made by pressing the counter reset button for a few secs. Haven`t tried this hack that you found out about yet, but I will as soon as I get home. Please tell me if you make any progress.

/S

Someone in Saudi had theirs remote hacked at Samsung using an engineers remote. I was also told by repairer that it is possible but they were unsure of how and were having trouble finding out from Samsung. This ### me off as my requirement is because I have moved to a different region and I can`t buy region 2 DVD`s here (my unit is region 2).

I`ll keep trying and keep you posted.
