DESPERATE FOR HELP WITH MY SAMSUNG 709
i`ve tried to hack my 709 using the remote hack based on the remote that comes with the player but i could not get it to work, neitehr could my friend who has successfully done so on his 709, i have an AIWA remote but i cannot find a straight-forward guide on how to hack the 709 with this remote, if anyone can give me a "simple answer" and that means not giving me half-a-dozen links all over the net, i`d be very grateful

The Definitive page for the 709 is www.709online.com. click on the pic of the player then click faq in the bar at the top. This has all the 709 hacks including a hack that can be done from the sammy remote! Sorry to give ya yet another web page but the info there is really too comprehensive for a forum message and I`ve at least tried it and know it works

You probably have an older version of firmware which isn`t hackable with the Sammy remote. (The hack is only guaranteed to work on version 3.23 and later versions.)
For those who don`t just happen to have an Aiwa remote down the back of the settee, the easiest solution is to upgrade the firmware to the latest version (3.32).
Not only will it allow you to hack the player with its own remote, it`ll solve problems with a few troublesome discs too. You can find out more about DIY firmware upgrades on my Samsung firmware site - http://www.709firmware.fsnet.co.uk
709 Online is great, by the way. What do you find so s***e about it? :-)

I used to have one of those before it was stolen, See post above yours!.
I found that pressing the random and clock button several times in quick succession on the aiwa remote worked perfectly after a cold start. Of course it depends on the aiwa remote but just try several combinations, it`ll work eventually.
Good luck

In " what video and tv " April 2000 edition it has a hack using a " one for all topline " remote ( if I remember correctly a 5 in 1 ). Worked for me (after a couple of tries ). This will also disable macrovision.
Tandy sell the remote for about £30 ( if it does not work you can always take back the remote....if you know what I mean ).
