Hack Help Forum
Hi. i have a wharfdale750 (3rd generation i think - DTS logo etc) but i cannot get it to play region 1 discs. I tried the standard 0123 codes and even the 750s codes, and all i got was the disc playing, but constantly scrolling across the tv. Having read some of the threads it occurred to me that it may be my telly. We have an old jvc tv which does not have a scart lead. My dvd works because i bought an adapter and play it through the tv`s phono sockets. This has worked fine with standard region 2 discs, but perhaps because the tv is so old it will not play region 2 software? Or maybe it is because i am not using the scart lead. Can anyone help please?
RE: More wharfdale questions...
The problem that you have is likely down to your TV. What it sounds like is that your tv will only play in PAL format. I dont know the technicalities but understand PAL to be the video format that will play and is recognised by UK equipment. When you are trying to play a region 1 disc the TV may not recognise it because a region 2 is in NTSC format, the format recognised by equipment in american (for example). If your Tv hasnt got a scart soccet i presume it will not recognise NTSC although you can check this out by pressing the TV SYSTEM on your remote.
It should go in this order:
PAL
PAL60
PAL60R
AUTO
NTSC ------ if by the time you get to this the picture is in black and white or rolling then yourt TV doesnt recognise NTSC.
PHEWWW bit long winded but i hope i answered your question.
