Unfortunately, the technology you require has been made illegal pretty much worldwide at the insistence of our friends in the US. You may still be able to get the relevant cable but you`d better get a move on.

If you try doing a SEARCH of this forum, you never know you just might find the answer you`re looking for.

I managed to get the relevant cable from Sonel just a couple of weeks ago and after a couple of hiccups, it works fine. One thing to bear in mind though is what VCR you are using as a source. I first of all used a Sharp but couldn`t transfer VHS with it. E-mailed Sonel who suggested I either used one of their adaptors to output via phono and thence to the lead, or try another VCR. I used an el cheapo Goodmans and it was OK. Apparently according to Sonel, some VCRs "talk" to their host TVs using certain data pins on the Sonel Scart lead which mucks up the copy protection stripping. Sonel have only the gold plated one in stock at £24.99, but worth it if you have a lot of VHS to archive. Suggest you do as Mark says and get a move on as not sure if Sonel will be able to supply them for ever. Maplins have already got rid of their "magic boxes" to comply with the law. HTH
