Difference between Samsung 709 and 909

Nicolas (Harmless) posted this on Sunday, 1st October 2000, 14:25

I noticed when I looked at the two machines in the store the other day that the Samsung 909 has an NTSC/PAL switch on the back, whereas the 709 doesn`t. What does this mean? Does it mean that I can`t watch R1 discs on my PAL TV with a Samsung 709. I know that the 709 reads NTSC, but I`m not sure it converts it into PAL standard. Do I have to have an NTSC compatible TV with the 709? Is this the difference between the 709 and the 909?
