Page 1 of Multi Region Hacks for Samsung SV-DVD440?

I have recently bought a Samsung SV-DVD440 and wondered whether anyone knows of any means of hacking this player to make it multi-region and to turn off macrovision. I have tried playing copied discs which will not play at the moment and wondered whether there was a way round this.

1. Power on the system with an empty tray, it will display "No Disc".
2. Press the SUBTITLE key and then press 57538. It will display the current region setting.
3. Select the desired region setting (9=region free, 1=region 1, 2=region 2, ...).
4. Confirm the choice by pressing the SUBTITLE key.
5. Power down the system. (this step may not be necessary:not tested)

At your next power on, the system will be set to the desired region setting.

The unit has to be in dvd mode not vcr for it to work

The above works well for region change, but I can`t get this DVD to play copies? any-idea?

it will only play copies if it accept dvd-r and dvd+r disks
check your manual to see if it can

most players will play +r but not always -r

My problem is the other way around. I can play dvd`s recorded from my PC or dvd recorder but it will not play any pre-recorded discs at all. Can anybody have any suggestions other than binning it?
