Hi has anybody got the codes to de regionalise this DVD player please?

Sorry, can`t answer your question on codes but you may be able to help me.

I have just bought an MD80857 160GB/HDD recorder from ALDI in Ireland. When I input the advertised Videoplus number the date is right but the times are all wrong. Is this a known problem? Also the disc capacity is shown as 154,000 MB is this correct for the model?

I also bought one in Ireland last Thursday and experience the same crazy VideoPlus timings. Its a nuisance but you can still record by manually setting the timer.
In relation to the hard disk space thats normal as a certain amount is reserved for the software that runs the device. Its the same with a computer hard disk or a memory card - you never actually get as much as is advertised.

I had the same problem with the videoplus. Try updating the time in the set up menu. I used the automatic option and it cured it, But i find that the videoplus doesn`t work half the time it usually stops the recording after the first few minutes ( 2-7 mins.) if i use the pdc option. Also i find if i press stop when i am recording a program the recorder goes off (no display or anything) and i have to reset it. Anyone else got this problem?

I am on my second one. The first one took about 12 power ups to power up. On the new one i find that the dvd drive is always spinning even in standby and what ever name you store next to the channel number is lost when you return from standby mode. Also if you have programs to record at a later date they are deleted if you enter a new videoplus entry using the videoplus button. Anyone else have this problem ?

Thanks for the hack. Worked 1st time , have not tested it yet! Came up on screen saying that it was a test and not for re-sale ???? Anyone else got this message?

Yes that message always appears for about 30 seconds, but after that all seems to work OK

Full hack is:

1. Switch on, make sure no DVD is inserted and tray is closed.
2. On remote press the following in sequence:
Press angle
Press 1
Press 2
Press 3
Press 4
Press Source
Press 0 for multi region (or press 1 for region 1 only etc)
Press open / close
3. A message is displayed for around 30 seconds saying "Region 1 2 3 4 5 6 - Test only, NOT FOR RESALE!!" and the machine will lock while displayed.

Works OK for Australian DVDs (region 4) and seems to survive a power off. Don`t have any region 1 disks to test it.

I have just tried it on my machine and got the message, but it wouldn`t play my Region 1 disks when set to region free - If I set it to Region 1, they work

I have tried it now about siz times, with the same effect

BTW - I also have the Videoplus problem - it failed to tape two programs for me tonight

Having major problems with my 3rd one of these. Problem been it records for a few seconds when using videoplus , then it switchs off the recorder, It takes 2-3 reboots to power back up. Taking it back for the 4th time and getting my money back. Read loads of feedback and can`t find anyone who has a decent one!
