Bush PDVD0708 Portable DVD
Just got one of these for the kids to use in the back of the car from B&Q but I want to hack it for multi-region use. Can anyone help please?
Have you tried the Acoustic 421 hack?
Works for DVD421 & DVD451:
Open disc tray / cover
Press `Setup` on the remote
Then press `Next, Prev, Next, Prev.`
Enter region code setup:
Ver 255 = Region free
Ver 1 = Region 1
Ver 2 = Region 2
Press left (<) or right (>) key
Press Down key twice
Ver 4001 = macrovision enable
Ver 4000 = macrovision disable
Press left (<) or right (>) key
Cheers.
Thorin.

Yes, tried this and it does not work. Maybe Bush got wise to the hack and have stopped users doing this with other equipment?!?!
I`ve just managed to hack my Bush PDVD 0708. The problem is, I tried so many different combinations, I`m not 100% sure this is the one that worked. Try it anyway!
1.Switch on
2.Press setup on remote
3.Enter 1369 in order to check the sub-version of player
SUB-VER 00.00.00.04 ... unavailable
SUB-VER 00.00.00.06 ... available
4.Enter 3497340 (last digit means the region)
5.Press setup on remote. This should take you back to the normal screen.
6.Repeat 2&3 again
7.Check the region code was changed. Mine became `0`
Good luck.
RE: Bush PDVD0708 Portable DVD
Hi,
Thanks for the update, managed to get into the menu for the sub-version of the player but using your `3497340` code has not worked.
Here`s what my sub-version menu reads:
Version: 06.00.02.06
Sub-Ver: 00.00.00.01
8032: 06.00.02.06
Servo: 67.53.00.00
Nsc: 06.00.02.06
Dsp.: 06.03.00.29
Region Code: 2
Any more advice would be greatly appreciated.
Ker, your an expert. How did you find out the code to type on the version menu ?
For people who are stuck, I got mine for Christmas and posted but nobody replied, I could get into the sub-version menu easy but no further until today and read this post.
THE MAIN THING TO NOTE !!! DON`T JUST TRY IT ONCE.
It took me two goes to get it to work. The reason ??? The remote control range. I had it too close and the buttons weren`t acknowledged. When moving about two feet back, follow the instructions and check again, hey presto ! It says region 0.
Incidentaly the numbers in the sub-ver on the post are different to what I see on my screen.
Having tested fully, it plays RCE, region 1, region 2, region 3, vcd, jpeg image discs, audio cd, dvd+, dvd+RW, dvd-, vcd, svcd. I binned my dvd-RW discs as they are unreliable but it would probably play those too.
Working great !

RE: Bush PDVD0708 Portable DVD
Am fully aware of the remote range and have tried using the remote in various different ranges. In all I must have attempted at least 50 times!
Any more advice greatly appreciated.
:) Hi to all I have one of these machines and just tried the hack and what the gentleman forgot to tell you is to open the lid first press stop then follow his instructions to the letter and it worked first time.

1.Switch on ( Then open the lid and press stop )
2.Press setup on remote
3.Enter 1369 in order to check the sub-version of player
SUB-VER 00.00.00.04 ... unavailable
SUB-VER 00.00.00.06 ... available
4.Enter 3497340 (last digit means the region)
5.Press setup on remote. This should take you back to the normal screen.
6.Repeat 2&3 again
7.Check the region code was changed. Mine became `0`
A useful addendum to the hack I posted above. You need to ensure that:
1. The machine is switched on and you can see the screen
2. The DVD compartment is OPEN and you`ve pressed `stop`
3. Press `setup` on remote
4. Enter `1369` to access the secret setup menu
5. Enter 3497340 (last digit is the region code)
6. Press setup to return to normal menu
7. Repeat steps 3&4. You should now be able to see that the region code is `0`.
8. Tadahhhhh!
Good luck
