Apparently here is one although i haven`t tried it.complete the following procedure

1 make sure there is no disk in the tray.
2 unplug mains AC
3 on the unit press and hold \"play\" and \"open/close\"
4 while holding these keys plug in mains power
5 release these keys and test apears on the display
6 press \"3D-phonic\"
7 press menu twice on the remote
8 display reads 000 5858 use down buttons to 000 to 02e
9 change last 4 digits to the following

0000 for region free
0101 for region 1
0202 for region 2

press enter on the remote

press standby and wait 5 seconds

press standby again and the player is now set to the region that u desire

If this doesn\`t work omit step 6

let us know if it works

Hi Jonnyfromdonny

Thanks for the info...:-)

I am a real newbie to the world of DVD. I just got a JVC XV E100 at Xmas and wanted to be able to play DVDs from other regions. For a while I scoured the forums but it seemed that the consensus was that there was no remote hacks available for the JVC.

However there did seem to be some way to hack via the Compulink using a PC...but those who knew about it weren`t going to give away their secrets.

Anyway the point is I just tried the hack you outlined and I was able to get as far as Step Number 8...but then my display reads as follows S0020 U0017

Do you or any other knowledgable person know what these codes mean and what needs to be altered to make the player region free...safely?

Thanks.
