region hack required for hitachi htd- k150

deeks (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 9th October 2001, 09:49

Hi all,
I have just bought a hitachi HTD-K150 DVD + HOME THEATRE kit and was wondering if anyone knows of a region hack or macro disabler yet. I am told that it has only just been released so if anyone can help here it would be really appreciated.

Cheers, Deeks.

Hey Deeks,I am thinking of buying the Hitachi HTD-K150 DVD and I was wondering if you could tell me if its any good?and where you bought it?I am from Dublin and the only place I have seen that player is in Argus for around £600 I think.I can`t even find reviews for the player,it seems to be very new,so new no one knows anything about it.

just been looking at the schneider HCS 500 in our local ASDA and all but the face-plate, all other features seem to be very identical to the Hitachi HTDK 150. Even down to the positioning of the output terminals if this unit is of the same structure then it only costs £299.99 over here in mainland uk. Also if anyone can confirm this then i`ll be very gratefull

Deeks,

Been having a nightmare time trying to track down the appropriate region hack for the K150, if you get a response could you forward it to me at the address below:

If I find a solution in the mean time, I`ll let you know - suspect that its a new model and the hack`s not been released yet!

Cheers

I just bought a HTD-K150 and got these instructions on a piece of paper from the dealer.

(From the instructions, slightly re-written)
"
Set up region code

- Open door
- Press "Volume up" and "Fast Forward" on the remote.
- The OSD on the TV will display region information as 321"0".
- Press "Volume up" and "Fast Forward" on the remote again.
- The TV will show 321"1"
- Continue to press "Volume up" and "Fast Forward" on the remote to change to 2-3-4-5-6

If customer wants to use a region for a long time, e.g. region 2, he/she can press the angle key on the
remote for about 5 seconds. The DVD will be set up for region 2. Any region can be set up this way.

I can confirm that the hack posted by DanneMannen works, as I have been playing region 1 DVDs on my Hitachi HTDK150. Even better if when
you get 321`0` on your machine and stop there . Press the angle key for
several seconds you will have memorised the Multiregion Code `0`.
From then on you can play DVDs from all regions.
Cheers

Once you have set the code `0` in the memory using the angle key on the remote. You should never have to change it again. The machine is then permanently Multi-region.
