Once the chip is programmed, you can just put an ordinary sticky label or a piece of opaque tape (e.g. electrician`s tape) over the window to protect it.

Thanks, just one last thing. What do u personally use electricians tape? Will any sticker do?

Yes, any old sticker will do. I personally use a white sticky label, and write or print on the details of what`s on the chip (so I don`t forget).

Hi Mike
I was wonder if you could program an Eprom for me for this older unit, I know its a bit outdated but I like to give it a go, Its the Hitachi dv-p315 with the eprom that needs programming. just let me know about coast
