Does anyone know the region hack for the LG DR289H DVD Recorder ?
Many Thanks
Hiya
Wish i could help you - have exactly the same issue - if you do have any luck, perhaps you`d be good enough to let me know?
Thanks :B
HI THERE,
After a fair bit of research i have found the hack for this player.
It`s as follows.
Switch the player on.
When it`s booted up hold down CLEAR on remote and PROG Down on the front panel of your dvd player simultaneously for about 6 seconds.
You will see a list of codes
Change OP6 from ae to 8e.
Press Enter and then menu/list on your remote.
Your player will reboot.
Now your player is Multi region. :)
I have fully tested this and it works 100%.

Brilliant! The other half of my DVD collection is now viewable so thanks a million for that.
Er...like the moron I am, I screwed up the hex codes before the binary in OP1 and OP2 resulting in some strange hyroglyphics on the green LED display- please can you tell me what they are?
Thanks once more!
Hi There,
The hex codes for OP1 is db and OP2 is b0.
The lines should read OP1:db 11011011 M:10,D17
OP2:b0 10110000 E:14(CO)
Hope this helps

Hi,
I have purchased the LG DR289h DVD Recorder and it has a USB port at the front of the unit. I would have thought that it would play divx movies from my USB pen drive, but it won`t pick the Divx movies up.
Would you know if this player does play movies from usb or not?
Would you know if there is another dvd recorder/player that does have this feature?
Thanks

I have just purchased one of these DVD recorders and followed your instructions. Unfortunately I amended teh first two lines of code and now can`t get the remote to work. Any idea how this can be rectified and/or return the DVD to its initial settings so I can try it again. I have tried looking for a firmwatre update in case this may work but can`t find anything.
Any help would be most appreciated.
