Page 1 of Wharfedale DVD750s - have tried the hacks suggested on this site - not worked. Any suggestiona?

I purchased a Wharfedale 750s last week at a Tesco store. Have tried the multi-region hacks suggested on this site - don`t work. Has anyone had the same problem? If so any suggestions ? Is this a new batch of players that have been `hack proofed`!??

Hi Nev,

The 750S from the store is different to the one delivered from tesco online, the hack on these pages refer to the online version.

For the store bought version use the following:

Hack to Multi-Region:

open disc drawer
press STEP
press PREV
press NEXT

It`ll now flash a `Region Free` message in green

Hack back to R2

Open drawer
press SLOW
press PREV
press NEXT

It`ll flash another message in green and will only play R2s now.

NOTE: There is currently no known R1 manual hack, however several posts suggest that the new 750S may be capable of bypassing RCE, but to be sure I have ordered `The Patriot` that is R1 RCE encoded and will test it with my machine and post the results back to this forum when I have the results.

If mine doesn`t work its going back and I`ll re-order off the web to get the previous version.

I`m expecting the patriot any day now.

2 versions of the 750s exist (as mentioned) the online version and the store version.

it seems the online version can use the specific region setting hack

it seems the store one can`t use that hack, but has a region free hack.

but dvd times have just announced another specific region setting hack that is meant to work on the player that had only region free hack:

Press 0, 7, 5, 0
Press the number of the region of the disc you wish to play

From what I have read the Wharfdale region free hack rejects RCE disc, the specific region setting accepts RCE discs.

I haven`t got my copy of the Patriot to test RCE yet, but I have just tried this hack for my 750S which is the one with the latest firmware rev and it works a treat :-))

`The Patriot` arrived and it works no problem at all and in region free mode - ie I didn`t need the manual hack to R1.

All works as expected, the film, the menus and the special features :-)
