Somebody help with the Pioneer 525 please?
Well, I posted a message on this to the main forum and got no replies, so heres hoping there`s a "hack-junkie" or specialist out there who can help me!
I have recently bought a pioneer 525 from richer sounds.
It`s multi region, and doesn`t need a code as it switches discs automatically.
However the problem is the Macrovision is still enabled!
Obviously, I don`t wanna have to re-chip a chipped machine, and would prefer not to have to buy a "bug-buster" type box, so does anyone know of a way around the Macro?
I gotta run through my VCR because of lack of scarts on the TV and two digital receivers!
Pleeeeeeease help!
RE: Somebody help with the Pioneer 525 please?
It probably depends on who chipped your player of if there is a macrovision hack - get in contact with Risher Sounds and ask them - however I`ve been using an external macrovision box and I`ve had no problems (obviously I don`t know if it`s any good for copying discs ;) !!!! )
RE: Somebody help with the Pioneer 525 please?
I did Simon...but I got the reply of "er... d`uh....u could try..." etc.
How much did ur box cost and where from?
I don`t wanna copy discs, just be able to record something at the same time as watching a DVD!

RE: Somebody help with the Pioneer 525 please?
I got mine from www.keene.co.uk - they are called video signal stabilisers - keene did two types when I got mine - one for just composite and another with svideo as well - I`m not sure if anyone does one`s with scart sockets in because it only needs to alter the video signal.
I got the one with svideo and so far everything I have used with it gets cleaned perfectly - not NTSC though.
Region you want (1,2,3,4),
This remote hack was picked up from a forum and is the first I`ve ever heard of for a Pioneer player. It may be that this will only work on DV-525s` produced for certain countries, try it out and let me know. This is a similar process (if not the same) that a friend of mine uses to change region on his Pioneer DV-515, but supposedly his machine has been region modded internally:
Turn the player on without a DVD.
Press Setup.
Press Right Green Arrow until GENERAL is selected.
Press Down Arrow Once.
Press Display.
Press Condition Memory Button, select the Region you want (1,2,3,4), press Setup.
RE: Region you want (1,2,3,4),
Thanks anyway m8 - I say that one a while ago :( - I think that was with a mod that they did themselves - aparently the 505 can be hacked by soldering two pins of a chip together.
However - if you press the display button when on the OSD set. icon it displays your BIOS version and region number ! - quite useless but it does it !!
