DESPERATE! Failed Hack on AIWA XD-DW1 HC (region 6)

Where did I go wrong? Have followed the steps 1-5 posted on this site to convert my unit to multi-region. I am still not having any luck, all I get if I use a region2 dvd is Region Code Violation. Would appreciate anione who can point me in the right direction.

I have a Region 6 Unit, and tried the hack. It works, but does not play RCE disks at all.
The hack can be found at http://www.vcdhelp.com
Sorry... I`m just too lazy to cut and paste.
Follow the "DVD Hacks" (Standalone DVD) link.

if you have any luck in getting the hack to work, please test an RCE disk.

Just a thought for you John,
I tried a hack on a different player where everyone else said it worked, but I could`nt get it to work
All I had done wrong was leave a disc in whilst trying the hack.

Sorry for the delay in replying, I followed your advice and tried the other site.Using both setes of numbers I tried again, after about 12 tries I was still getting nowhere, as I was about to give up i tried once more. Dont ask why but for some reason it worked and I still dont know why?So many thanks for your insight and for taking the time to point me in the right direction.

Many thanks for the thought. I have now after many (40) tries finally got a multi-region player. Thanks for taking the time.

As you can see we are not the only ones with a problem. I had tried nearly 40 times using the hack details on this site without success. I checked out the other site mentioned and found the details the same except another code i.e. 8,7,2,0.instead of 8,7,1,0. So armed with this I tried again, after about 12 tries with no luck I was about to give up. Being me and not liking to be beaten by a machine I tried again. Would you believe it it finally worked and you know what I have no idea why. However what none of these hacks tell you is if it works a message appears on the screen after you press the fast forward saying MANUFACTURERS REGION CODE SETTING OR SOMETHING VERY CLOSE TO THAT. That tells you the machine is now multi-region (I have tried it with region2 and 6 discs) playback. Hope that helps, I think perseverance is the answer, hope it works for you. Many thanks for taking the time to reply.
