Anone who has this player will have been trying to hack it for the last few weeks and probably has not managed it.

well my friends, look no further. i successfulyy hacked my sd490 this morning.

Open tray
Type 2, 4, 0, 3, 9, 6 and 0
Press Enter to cycle to region 9
Close the tray
Turn player Off and back On
Note: If the above code doesn`t work then reattempt and leave the tray Open before turning off player

iI tested this using region one copy of Resident Evil that I have. It plays perfectly

Hi, i spent a while trying that code but wasn`t getting any screen so i had another surf about and found another forum. They only had a code for the 360 or 360e, it was virtually the same as the code listed here with the exception of a 9 on the end.
So, i copied what they said and im now watching my region 1 copy of The Last Starfighter lol

This is what I did.....

Open the tray.
Type 2,4,0,3,9,6,0,9
Nothing will appear on screen until the final digit is entered when a 9 will appear at the top of the screen.
Close the tray and away you go with a multi-region
Turn player Off and back On
Note: If the above code doesn`t work then reattempt and leave the tray Open before turning off player

How do you go about figuring out the hack region code? I have a Toshiba SDP94SKN just purchased in the US. Want to use it for Region 2 european dvds or make it multiregion.

Help will be much appreciated.

We used this hack on my Toshiba SDP490SKN yesterday and it works on my player.
A friend of mine found it at http://www.videohelp.com/dvdhacks/toshiba-sdp93s/10721

1. TURN ON THE POWER AND REMOVE ANY DISCS, CLOSE DRAWER
2. WAIT FOR " NO DISC " TO APPEAR ON YOUR DVD PLAYER SCREEN
3. USING YOUR REMOTE CONTROL PRESS: REPEAT 5-6-7-3-2-9 CONSECUTIVELY
4. THEN PRESS THE OPEN/CLOSE BUTTON ON YOUR DVD PLAYER
5. NOW TRY A DVD DISC FROM A DIFFERENT REGION

IF THIS IS NOT PROVING SUCESSFUL RESET THE DVD PLAYER BY PRESSING STOP AND
PLAY BUTTONS ON THE REMOTE CONTROL FOR 5 SECONDS SIMULTANEOUSLY, DON`T
FORGET TO REMOVE ANY DVD DISCS IN THE DRAWER. THEN TRY STEPS 2 - 4 AGAIN.
