Could anyone please help with a hack code for the above Samsung DVD player/recorder to make it multi region ? Thanks for looking

An additional request for the same information please! I have just bought the same model unit, but before doing so I tested a display model with what I believed was a Region 1 disc (it said so on the disc and packaging). However, when I took a new unit home and tried a few other Region 1 discs, the unit refused to play them with a "check region code" message.

I have seen references on other sites to a software update which makes the unit multi-region. Is this a legal software update from Samsung? If so how do I obtain it?

I wrote to Samsung a few weeks ago asking if it was possible to alter SH893M to multi-region,they said yes but wouldn`t give out the code.And said it would also invalidate my warranty if it was less than 12 months old,which it is. How old is yours ?

Hello,Just picked up your message as I have been on hols for quite some time visiting my son in the States.
Being a bit long in the tooth ( a pensioner ) I find it hard to understand terms like `firmware` etc.So you may have to explain things in a bit more detail,if you don`t mind.I did hack a cheap dvd player from Tesco once which was just a matter of pressing buttons on the remote,so I`ll keep my fingers crossed it won`t be to difficult !!
