Hi, I noticed some things on my Philips930 player. I bought the player 3 years ago region and macrovison free. When the player is on I have standard a blue background instead of the colorful one. When I look at the firmware it says 2.17 p17. I believe the p17 have somethimg to do with the P-codes.
I just play around with the "play 274" codes to change the regio code.
Here are some results:
regio 1: 0050001 281 56 When on this code the backgound turns suddenly in the colorfull mode, and no region free anymore.
regio 2: 0020001 281 56 same
regio 3: 0100001 281 56 same
regio 4: 0120001 281 56 same

But when i go back to 0170001 281 56 I`m back in my p17 mode again with a blue background. Region free!!!

when I do 0030001 281 56 the player turns into a Grundig DVD player!!?? with a blue background.region free.

Do only problem i have is that i can`t upgrade the firmware, the player doesn`t read the CD-R disk, it even don`t play burned audio CD-R`s.

Does anyone have some info about this?
