Page 1 of Got a macro master - still can`t record my UK dvd to video...can anybody help???

I have a Matsui 125
Bought a Macro Master to backup my dvd`s to video for the kid`s video players.
Picture from dvd thru vcr is excellent using macro master, but records to VHS tape as if macro is still enabled.
I have been told to check scart settings are composite, but can`t find any setings anywhere....

Can anybody help please
ps, I`m using a Sony VCR and a Sony TV, both approx 6 years old.

hi i too got a macromaster and it dint work ,picture through tv was perfect but picture on tape was terrible. i sent it back to sonel and got another one but exactly the same,i have been told that the macromasters are rubbish and to get a copybox from either keen electronics or maplins.
it appears that there is acompatability problem between some dvd players and some videos.

You may be correct regarding Macro Master compatability but I have used one for nearly a year now, on two different VCD Players and VCR`s, without problem. The DVD`s are .. Phillips 710 and Aiwa XR-DV525 ... the VCR`s ... Sanyo and Orion.

I too have a macromaster from sonel. Ive not had a problem either. Ensure that the source mahine has the "green light end" (one with the plug in it) and the receiving machine (VCR) has the other end of the scart. Make sure both ends are in nice and neat, because even if its out by a fraction, it wont work.

I may be wrong but I think the problem is with the way Macrovision has evolved over the last year ... as far as there used to be only one type of macrovision which worked by varying the AGC resulting in the picture flashing light and dark , this type of macrovision is defeated by the macmaster , it now seems that there are new symptoms of macrovision called 2 line color stripe and 4 line color stripe which the mac master cannot do anything about , I think this new macrovision is only in the newer players ....

So please say exactly what symptoms you have ... I guess you dont have the flashing light and dark but do have either 2 or 4 "stripes" on the recorded image ... am I correct ?

the dvd`s i tried were pacific 1000with a bush video and a schneider 856
with a toshiba video both dvd`s are only 3 months old and the problem existed with both machines. i then tried the macmaster on a rowa 280 and a schneider video and it worked perfectly. when i contacted sonel and gave them this information they admitted that it had to be a hardware compatability problem as the macmaster worked with the older dvd and
video setup where it would not work with the newer machines.it may be as someone else has suggested that the macrovision in the newer machines has also been changed
