Page 1 of Samsung 709

I really need a region hack for this player. I have tried all of them already and they are not working. the firmware version is 3.23, i also have the one for all 5 remote (urc-7550). do these hacks actually work? and is it possible to changed the region code from inside the player?

please help!!!!

Hi,

The hack on this site and in the FAQ do work I can assure you.
They can take a lot of perseverance with the remote control but the hacks most defiantly work on version 3.23 of the firmware.

There is no internal hack other then a chip so you have little choice then to keep trying.

I have hacked 12 709`s without problem using a One for All remote and most versions of the 709 firmware.

i am probabaly being totally thick but there is one thing i don`t understand
i follow these steps
1)press AUD
2)setup the tuner device using code 121 (pressing the magic key, it flashes twice etc)
3) press magic key once
4) enter 079

in #2 of applying the conversion to region 1 where it says "refer to section below on remotes and press the appropriate keys on your remote control"

i take it i keep trying steps 1-4 above until the dvd tray opens, there are no other keys to press after steps 1-4

steps 1 & 2 set the one for all to the remote frequency you want to use Jack, so don`t keep reentering them.

There will be other keys further down on the instructions to press.

you might have to use the "Double Cold Start" hack for your player, but there isn`t a 709 in existence that can`t be hacked!

I had the same problems. I thought i had the only un-hackackable 709 in the world. I went to 709online and there is a hack there that works. The server on it kept crashing while I was on it. Anyway try
this.
To adjust temporarily (using a One for All 5 remote)
1. Set the One for all CD type to 0121
Press CD, hold MAGIC down until CD flashes twice, press 0121, Press MAGIC.
2. Set a macro on the D button
Hold MAGIC until CD flashes once, then twice.
Press 995, CD should flash once.
Press D, press MAGIC once, press 078.
Hold MAGIC until CD flashes once then twice.
3. Reset the player with no disc in drive.
4 Press the D button once and the Cold start menu should appear, Pause for approx. 1/2 second, then
press it again & the drawer should open with "adjust" in the display (NOTE: if this doesnt work just keep pressing the D button until it does)
5. Put in a region 1 disc and your away!!!

To convert permanently

Press setup
Press 7 / 5 / 2 (on respective menus)
Now press return to go back to movie
Eject disc and turn player off
Turn back on and put in a region 1 disc.

Note the hack for the Thomson DTH-3300 also works with the 709. It`s much simpler to enter, and can be done with the player`s own remote.
