Page 1 of MY WEIRD TV!!!!!!!!!!!

I`ve got a philips 911 dvd player, when connected to my sony 4:3 tv via a scart, and the dvd is put into 16:9 it will play widescreen movies, full screen. When i connect it in the same way to my ferguson 4:3 tv and put the dvd in 16:9 the aspect ratio remains the same and a white line appears across the top of the movie. I`ve just connected it too the ferguson using the composite connectors, and it plays full screen now.... Why does it do this, could it be anything to do with the fact that the tv has got 2 scarts, or cus it is nicam stereo, or is it a s*** scart cable..
