Moncs (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 2nd July 2002, 15:35

Anyone know anything about the model of Alba DVD player that Safeway are selling on friday for £150?? It includes 40 films for that price. The advert does not include the model number

Its just for the in-laws so I dont need anything fancy, but I don;t want to buy a turkey, Any advice would be grateful

You can get some better players than that for less money my friend (unless you really want an alba?) without a load of (probably) s***e films. Examples being Kiiro 838d, Yelo 800, Scan Sc2500, Mico, Dansai, etc. In fact, I think I may have even seen a Pioneer player for £150 somwhere. That`s not a note of surprise, just to say "ooh, Pioneer". Or something. Basically, have a look around here, and you`ll find loads of people extolling the virtues of cheaper players. And I think for the same money there are better players.

Or this player could be totally kick ass and i`ll look a prat. Not that I care. My experience of Alba has been to leave well alone. Like Ferguson, or Bush. (now invites a flame war from Alba/Ferguson/Bush lovers). Er, and please no puns about "Bush lovers".

Sigh
