Page 1 of Sky digibox problem
Hardware Forum
Had Sky installed last week, was working fine, until today. Now says "there is no satellite signal being received". Obviously something is up with the dish / box. I`ve checked the cable about 4 / 5 times and sure it`s plugged in correctly. It`s a Pace box.
Anyone got any ideas which might provide a quick fix rather than having to call Sky etc.

Try going into the services menu from your remote (one of the green buttons near the top) and select the signal test option (No. 6).
On the signal test page there are two signal metres (signal strength and signal quality) the blue areas to the right should be partially filled with grey depending on the signal being received from your dish. If they are both blue you are not receiving anything from your dish.
If your not getting any signal try disconecting your digibox from the mains, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. There will be a slight delay whilst your system resets it`s self. Once it comes back on if your still not getting a picture it may be time to call out the engineer.
Best of luck. Pete.
The easiest way to try and sort this out is to do the following.
1) Select Services
2) Select System Set-up
3) Press 0 then 1 and press select as quick as you can.
4) You should be in a Installation menu.
5) Select Fresh/New install
6) Just keep pressing select etc when prompted.
Another way to try is to unplug the set for about 15 seconds then press and hold the Back-Up button and plug the set back in. It`s easiest simply to remove the power lead from the back of the set. You should get a message stating that a software update is in progress. Wait for anything between 5-15 minutes. Then try selecting a channel.
If neither of these work then it may be down to the RF box inside the digibox , according to a page I visited a few weeks back. HTH
Usually an overload problem, bit like an ISP server. Power off for completely for about 10mins and see what happens
If you `Check` the cable connection, meaning unscrewing the LNB lead (the one going into the Digibox) make sure the digibox is turned off. A short of any kind could ruin either the box or LNB. Normally the thing to do is turn off at mains wait 30 secs or more(sometimes 10 secs will do) turn back on, and it unjams itself. If it still does not work it can only be 3 things, The digibox...The Cable (unlikely) or the LNB (the thing sticking out from the dish). As you have a Pace I would think it is that as they are not the most reliable. Panasonic are the very best. It is possible something or someone has knocked the dish out of alignment.
I`ve had this problem on and off for ages now. The `turn it off; wait; turn it back on again` solution worked for a couple of months, but then it wouldn`t come back even after doing this. Because it was just over a year since I had the system installed I had to pay £60 to get someone to come out and look at the box. They sent it off, told me it would be 2 weeks before I got it back, and gave me a Oh-My-God-I-Can`t-Believe-It`s-So-Slow Amstrad box. 6 weeks later my Pace unit finally turned up. Next day, you guessed it, `satilite signal not received`. To say I was p***ed off was a slight understatment!
Anyways, after about an hour spent bitching to thoes nice (!) people at Sky CS another engineer turned up and replaced the LNB. That was 3 days ago and no sign of any problems so far.
If you`re still covered with the one year warrenty get it sorted now. I waited and ended up having to pay £60 for the privilege of spening hours on the phone to Sky CS and having to watch a crappy box for 6 weeks!
I have a similar problem with my Panasonic TU-DSB30.
After switching on and the message >>searching for listings<<
it switches off BY ITSELF!!!
If I turn the dish to Astra1 it works fine.
The signal from Astra2 is also ok (if I check quickly enough)
Anybody else had this experience?
