Alba 108 VCD / SVCD problem...HELP

stik (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 20th August 2002, 21:46

I`ve followed the "GOTO" route to play VCD /SVCD disks which seems to get me to the correct screen menu ok but the disks still won`t play. The segmented wheel on the left of the LCD display goe`s round and the play arrow head appears but the counter stays at 00:00. The display even says VCD or SVCD depending on the disk thats in at the time . I`ve tried the other remote tricks but the GOTO one gets me to the menu ,the others don`t.

Am I doing something wrong or are there VCD formats that just won`t play.
Hope some one can help.

You have to press 1 after you get to the VCD/SVCD Menu screen to play the film. I don`t know if you have done this. Hope it helps.

Hi

I found that some play great but some dont and you get the problem you have .It may be that who ever made the disc did not make it to the standard.[ in nero you get the option to relax the standard to suite the recording ]

bye

Just purchased this player from Argos, Solihull for £69.95, also you get a £5 gift voucher, not bad, its 4.5 cm high and 36 cm in length, silver, very nice but simple looking player, very quite, loads faster than my cyberhome 528, its multiregion out of the box, tried it with four different regions dvds works fine, mp3 menu not bad, sound is ok, picture quality is good if not better than most budget players out there. TO PLAY VCDs.....load dvd and just before tray shuts start pressing GOTO on the remote until you will get VCD menu, you should see time counter appear on the left hand side of the screen ....00.00, put in 00.01 (ONE SECOND) using the remote then press play, and it should work, it did for me. LET ME KNOW HOW YOU GET ON>>> AND WHAT YOU THINK OF PLAYER!!!
