Problems with Black Areas on Samsung 709?

basquille (Harmless) posted this on Wednesday, 21st August 2002, 16:13

When i`m playing DVD`s on my Samsung 709, the black/dark areas on screen look a little distorted and fussy. Could this be to do with my machine settings or would if be something to do with the fact i inputted the Region Free Hack into my Samsung 709 last night.

Any help would be much appreciated?

It`s possible that you have your TV brightness settings set too high. On many DVDs, the very darkest parts of the picture are not encoded at a particularly high resolution, on the assumption that these picture areas would not normally be visible anyway (on a TV with the brightness and contrast set up properly).

Rest assured it`s got absolutely nothing to do with the region hack.

Ditto, I hacked my 709 over a year ago and have had no probs.
