The farce that is Scan - Read and weep !!!!!
Well, it`s one thing after another, and now I have to admit it has reached the final straw -
Okay, I contacted Scan last week regarding my faulty DVD player (all the usual faults - pulsing background, dodgy mp3 playback, crashes) - they arranged a returns number and I sent them my player by next day delivery - they recieved it yesterday - I wanted a pick and drop, but because I had the player for less than ONE week over the 30 day period, they refused, even when I suggested paying for the courier !!
Right, they received it yesterday morning - but nothing was updated on their website - I contacted them, and they said the whole returns procedure can take anything from 5 days to a month!! .... After much deliberating the returns support chap promised me a replacement would be dispatched on this Thursday for receipt on Friday.
After seeing a comment by Nilesh that all Scans are sold out until January 5th I thought it better to contact them again - and, yep, you guessed it - `they`re all sold out` - I am OUTRAGED by this - it typifies the corporate mentality - maximise revenue at the expense of existing customers - and I guess everyone else waiting for a replacement DVD player will be just as disappointed.
Allegedly, a batch of 100 will arrive on Monday and one will be put aside for me - but do you honestly think I believe this? I`ve already talked to my credit card company about it - all I have to do is say the word, and they`ll be in like a lion entering the Colosseum.
My professional work is firmly in the IT industry, and I have never come across such a rigid and carelessness attitude towards their customers.

stock i couild probably get one out today.And we will refund the return
postage.

If you spoke to ryan then your player will go out tommorow for friday
as he mentioned it to me earlier.I have authorised a few drop and pick
players to go out but we are not taking any more orders hence the comment on the website earlier on.

i haven`t even received my second player yet, it`s already a day late, and i was told i had to contact them asap or else i`d bu screwed until Jan.....
see my previous `Crap Customer Services At Scan`.....
if the second one ever arrives, and if it still doesn`t work, i reckon i am taking it back in person. with a few of my friends from glasgow, to see about a refund.

You wont need any freinds from glasgow and we will gladly
do a refund without any problems if your 2nd players does not work.

Your new player has been sent on ref 406203.It may miss tonights
delivery but you shouild get it by friday.Check that number with
the online tracking on www.scan.co.uk.

I have for some time read with amusement the tragedy of buying a scan dvd player and i can`t for the life of me understand why anyone wants to either buy or sell one. Maybe someone could enlighten me!

I have had mine for about two weeks and am delighted with the picture quality, sound (and price) playing region 1 and 2 discs.

I bought one in august _ faulty, subtitles on all the time, pb with RGB
got that one replaced, eventually in October _ sub fixed but poor picture
finally got around to ask for the new MPEG card one, got it 3 days later, it works fine (except I need the firmware upgrade as I need Macrovision disabled, going through my VCR to the TV while waiting for Santa Claus to bring me a Widescreen Tv ;-)
Do I think I finally got a descent DVD player _ Yes,
Will I buy through Scan again (digitheatre or PC memory) _ NO
The problems with the product is not necessary Scan fault but the customer service is crap.
I guess you pay for it or don`t....
