Hardware Forum
Just got one of these fabulous little machines (and it far surpasses my reliable old Wharfedale 750) at Tescos in Brent Park, NorthWest London - if anyone is after one, they have about 50 machines in stock - but I`m told they clear pretty quickly.
Oh and to the user who asked some time ago on this forum whether the Dansai can do RCE discs, the answer is yes.

RE: Dansai 1010`s at tescos
Have u had the upgrade disc to disable macrovision, and make it multiregion.Mine wont play cd/r discs, but been told to get upgrade disc and the machine will do everything.Tesco have run out of discs though.
You don`t need the upgrade disk to make it multi-region. Did you try the hacks I suggested in answer to another thread?
RE: Dansai 1010`s at tescos
He`s right - you can make it multiregion by pressing
Setup on the remote
play on the panel
stop on the panel
rev on the panel
fwd on the panel
prev on the panel
next on the panel
This should work but if it doesn`t, do just a search through the forum.
As for the CD - you can get the files to upgrade from http://homepage.ntlworld.com/camol121/1010upgrade.zip although I haven`t tried them yet - you`ll need to burn them onto a cd, obviously.
Cheers
Paul
I brought one today after having a read of the forums, although several links to a download to update the ROM, the instructions were poor. Thankfully a member emailed me some instructions and the file. Just burnt it to disc and hay presto now reads recorded VCD`s. Next thing is to try the hack that enables the hidden menu, apparantly the option to turn off the macrovision is on a menu.
I must say the instructions I was given although worrying, did work. (Part of the instructions explain that the picture breaks up, which it does, then turns itself to standby, just switch off 10 seconds later VCD is enabled.

Can you tell me please does this player have an optical output as I want to record cd`s on to midi disc. Thanks Andy.
They have dropped the price to £79.99 which means buy em when you see em.
Try £60!! by me anyway.

Ste
£60! thats a steal. What Tesco is that so I can beat the manager of my local store around the head with the company`s pricing policy.
I think you`ll find that it`s £60 in Tesco Express stores and £79.99 in normal Tesco stores.
