can the macrovision be dissabled on this player like it can be on the 852. and does it play svcd`s and vcd`s, basicly does it do what the 852 does ? is it as good ???????

The basic machine can be hacked for Region 1 using the remote (see hacks page). If you call the Tesco helpline - no on screen when the player is switched on - they will send you an upgrade disc. This allows vcd and svcd to be played and macrovision to be switched off.

Downloaded the image file for the rom and burned to CDR, the machine now does everything including disabling of macrovision!!!
