Davey, i think you will find that people are not being bias, but are merely reporting problems in way that effects action. i would love nothing more than to have received a kick ass player that delivered all that it promised, but, sadly, this was not to be my experience.
although i can sympathise with the company and the staff, i personally have now reached the stage where my refund is being arranged and i am going to go buy a Sony. i am a reasonable guy, but there is only so much a person can take before they lose faith in a product/company.
as it stands, i would now rather have spent 2 or 3 times as much and received a working properly first time piece equipment and been able to watch the disks that i have been buying since October then embarking on this budget player crusade in the first place.
merry xmas all.

I am certainly very satisfied with the SC-2000 which I bought back in September. I have not noticed any of the problem issues that have been reported here.
I have had a problem that has not been reported here but my experience of SCAN is that they have addressed that as well as I could expect. At the time I bought it there was nothing else available in the UK that offered the same features/price from a reputable company. I would have no problem buying another today if I needed another one.
I am also most impressed that someone from SCAN, i.e. Nilesh, plays an active part in this forum and appears to be someone who gets things done and is willing to help customers.
If you want leading edge functionality at a low price that is ahead of the competition, then there are risks with choosing such technology. SCAN have taken a big risk in introducing this technology to the UK and there will be teething problems/QA issues with their Far Eastern suppliers.
Otherwise go to your local Currys and find out what happens when you have an issue with the performance of something you buy from them.

.....or else read up on the products available and buy one based on the quality and reputation of the maker, in addition to the features offered. You may spend more, but it`ll be worth it in the long run.
Judging by the amount of money everyone has had to fork out for returns delivery fees etc. it seems most of you could have bought better players from these more reputable makers.

I am very pleased indeed with my player (Oct. 26th batch, V1.92 FW). Based on my experiences (and the fact that Nelley supports this forum and provides FW updates) three friend have also subsequently bought Scans and all are very pleased. No problems. One of my colleagues is just about to put his name down for the next batch; we`ll see how he gets on.
I think the player itself is excellent value and its performance exceeds that of other `bargain` players like the Wharfedale 750S; indeed it compares favourably with the `premium` players that I`ve looked at (Tosh. SD100E, Sony and Pioneers). The main issue seems to be that of Scan`s Customer Services (or lack of...). Other companies ship out fautly equipment (I know, because I`ve been on the receiving end) but they do put things right straight away. Scan need to put their hands up and admit that the pre-Oct 26th players were faulty and then put matters right. I think that if they did that then complaints to this forum would disappear and sales would increase (although I gather they`re selling pretty well at the moment anyway!!!).
