Page 1 of i want a cheap player what does it all but which is best?

i have a dansai 852 which has great functions i can record to vhs from it, it plays everything, but the thing which lets it down is picture quality, i also have a goodmans in bedroom which has better picture but you have to keep putting the hacks in everytime you want to use them, so i want a player like the dansai 852 but not the picture.
ive been told that there is a player like this called the manhatten, dont know which model but been told its around 120 quid,, a chap told me it stands up to his 400 quid sony on pic quality.
