Page 1 of Sony DAVS-880 or separates? Please help...much confused!!

Right, I`m new to this game so please excuse my lack of knowledge. I`ve got approx £800 to spend and am looking to get a full home cinema system. From reading a couple of mags the SONY DAVS-880 has received a great review and caters for all my needs. Can anyone let me know their opinion on the Sony and whether my money would be best spent on separates. If so which separates do you recommend. Cheers for your help.

I have a Sony DAVS-800 and cannot praise it enough. I think though, it will depend on how much you are going to want to get into DVD`s and keeping up with the latest technology. I purchased mine because I have a quite small lounge and it replaced my HiFi seperates aswell as giving me a DVD player and looked great at the same time (the pile of black boxes don`t look anywhere near as good!!). If however, you are like most of the posters on here and are really into your films and will purchase large quantities and take advantage of the different regions then I would suggest going for seperates with half decent multi-region DVD player.

I am looking to buy the same Sony outfit. Looking around it appears far cheaper at Unbeatable.co.uk at £608 .99. Like you I wonder what peoples views are on the equipment. I also need to see how it connects to the TV as I am not sure it has a SCART connection.
