DVD Recorder Help Needed!

Richard Burgess (Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 5th December 2002, 14:39

Hey all,

My problem is no matter how careful I am, my DVD`s always get scratched and its starting to really bug me :-¦ I invested in a fast computer and started to make SVCD copies to play in my Awia DVD player (cannot remember the model number, its the one with the 5.1 output with speakers) but it still takes way too long and Im not too happy with the quality. What I was wondering was if anyone out there has a DVD-R machine and makes copies of there DVD`s, how good is the quality, is there any loss in sound/video? Also, how many hours can you fit on a single DVD-R, do you have have to use two or more disks like VCD? Would it be any better than the SVCD copies I am getting? DO I still get 5.1 surround sound or do I have to deal with ProLogic?

Also, where is the best place to get cheap DVD-R media? And another question, whats the best deal going on a cheap DVD recorder.

Not asking much, am I? :) Any help would be great!

after a lot fo searching i settled on the pioneer range, i have the 104 and am extremley pleased.
This site has the newer 105 for a very good price

Does everything u could ever want from a burner

As for disc`s, its a lot down to personal preference, but this site is very cheap

http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk/acatalog/SVP_Communications_Recordable_DVD_Discs_16.html

and they have the:

Pack of 25 DATASAFE WHITE (Same Ritek dye as Traxdata) 4.7GB DVD-R disc

which get very good reviews at:

Sorry if thats a bit more indepth than u wanted, but theres some good sites there,

have fun
