Which one to buy - AIWA 370, SAMSUNG 511 OR PIONEER 535
I have just returned my Wharfedale 750S as it wouldn`t play X-Men and had troubles with Fight Club R1, so I would like some advice on what
to buy next. I have seen some good reports on the three players in the heading but I am not sure which one to go for. The AIWA 370 seems a good machine by all accounts but it doesn`t have bookmark features that I like (eg RESUME STOP), can anyone tell me if the other two players have this feature and if they will play MP3 files and VCD
Thanks
MartinD.

OK here it comes......................
Drop the Samsung 511 from your list. It doesn`t play CD-R`s or CD-RW`s and certainly no MP3`s. If u want these features and uwant a Samsung, go for the 611.
The Pioneer 535 is a good player (check threads for comments on this player), but doesn`t play MP3`s and has to be bought hardware modified (though usually including macrovision disabled).
The Aiwa 370 does all what u ask from a player except maybe extensive bookmarking...
Although it does do the typical "RESUME STOP" function...
So if u stop the player in the middle of the film and u press play again, it will resume from that point in the film.
They all play VCD`s ... so that`s no problem.
So what would I choose??
I`d go for the Aiwa. It`s a no problems player with all the stuff you need.
And it`s quiet as a mouse..
That`s why I bought one myself recently.
(more info on this player: http://aiwaownersnetwork.tripod.com )
Otherwise if u like to have a "Brand" player, go for the Pioneer.
It`s rock solid stable (plays every DVD).
But it doesn`t play MP3, is a bit noisy and the layer change isn`t that perfect.
So why no Samsung then???
Well I thought about it, but I still have read and heared about skipping problems with these players (yet not so frequently as they used to).
So there u have it, my opinion.
And please don`t let me repeat it..

Thanx for the reply lievn,
I think that has clinched it for me the AIWA 370 does seem to be the best buy, thanx for also clearing up the RESUME STOP query as that is a nice feature.

>"Aiwia hmmm well it a lovely kit but i am not fan of awia as i have had many problem with them, Not DVD other things"
I bet thats an Aiwa HIFI with a dodgy laser unit!!
And to clear up two other points:
The Aiwa 370 IS an LG 3350 with the 2nd scart, the Dolby Decoder and some of the bookmarking features removed.
However, it does have Digital outputs for amp connection, and DOES play VCD ( The LG can`t handle VCD, and I`ve checked a PRESSED original VCD too)
The "RESUME STOP" Lievn referred to only works if the player is resumed within 8 minutes. If the player switches to standby at any time, resume will not take place.
However the player scans at up to 100x search speed, so no real problem there!
And go look at me site!! http://aiwaownersnetwork.tripod.com
(Jeeeeezzz...why didn`t I just call it "aon.tripod.com"!!
AIWA 370 (officially) ROCKS!!!!!!!!!
(oh, and Lievn, if ya got the bottle...strip your player...the second scart and dolby decoder connections are THERE!! just the phono`s aren`t there for the decoder, and I think some small components required...if I can get a GOOD snapshot of the inside of an LG, I`ll let ya know if you can add it!)
Just bought a DVD player. I came here looking to see if I was the only one that had skipping problems with my 511.
Noticed lievn`s post that refered to it.
Can anybody else point me in the direction of other postings or give me any information on the problem
FI Resevoir Dogs seems to skip every 5 mins. Gladiator every 15. I tried cleaning the disks but no luck.
TIA
