Page 1 of Imedance question

i`m thinking of bying a pair of Dali Suite 2.5 speakers and i have a question.
My amp is a Yamaha AZ-2 with a switch at the back for Impedance that can be set to either 8ohm for all speakers or 4ohm for the main and 6ohm for the surround speakers.
My surround speakers are a brand new set of Tannoy mx-m at 8ohm.
If i`ll set the switch to the 4ohm setting for the Suite 2.5 will it do any harm either to the surround speakers or the amp?

Impedence - can be made to sound like impotence - Pele is involved in an awareness ad campaign for the latter....

If your speakers state that they are 8ohm only, then do not switch it to 4ohm (why would you want to do it anyway?) or you could be nipping out to buy some more speakers (and maybe an amp too!).

Stick with the 8-ohm setting. The 4-ohm output should be supplying more drive and, as such, could over-drive your 6-ohm speakers.
I can`t see it damaging the amp on either setting ; the downside is that you may find a little less output (but on any quality system, you wouldn`t notice much if any difference - unless you have 25 x 25 feet living/viewing room.
