Does anyone have or know anything about this amp ? as I am probably going to buy it at the end of the month !

Is it any good ?

Any problems known ?

Is it worth the £499.00 (best price ive found so far)

Thanks

Hi Lee31

There doesn`t seem to be many people posting on this website at the mo.

I`ve just bought an SR4300 (£320 in Gold) and its a superb machine. The SR7300 is likely to be even better. I run the front two channels through my Stereo Amp (Arcam A85) as I didn`t want degradation of my stereo music (Good though the Marantz is, it can`t even compete at the same level for stereo music, although it is better than most multichannel amps by far). Problem is the remote for the marantz runs on the same frequency as the Arcam, so if I want to turn the film soundtrack up or down I have to get off my lardy arse...thats about it though.

You should be happy with your purchase.

What speakers are you going to run off it?

Lee 31,

I have a SR4300 as well and I am well pleased with it in music and home cinema. I use it to drive mission-fs1`s. The gold version is looks very exclusive. The only bad thing is maybe the boring remote control and it is not that easy to control things. But for the price I got (£240) it is simply unbeatable.

However, for £500 there are other competitors that you might wanna check out as well. People rave in avsforum the Sony-1080S which can be had for around £370, the raving Yamaha630 (the amp cost only £260 in RS) which can be found for around £300 although in japan they have just released the x40series with will be no doubt much better than x30 and there you can have it in gold (maybe here as well), and Pioneer 1011 (£525 in empire), which should be as good as the big brother 2011.

Thanks Doraemon but im looking for 192Khz with at least 24 Bit to accompany my DVD-A player so I suppose it leaves me with the Marantz (192Khz/32bit) Vs Pioneer (192Khz/24bit). I know the Pioneer looks shackled up with specs but is there any point of having a THX Certified Receiver if my speakers arnt THX ??

Plus Empire have only got Silver & I want Black & the cheapest ive seen black is £550 !!

Thanks

Lee
