Cheap DVD player advice

Stiffler (Competent) posted this on Tuesday, 25th March 2003, 14:48

Hi all :o) I am looking at buying a DVD player for one of my housem8s 21st Birthday. I have a Sony NS305 as well as a Pacific 1002 and a Schneider-857 (essentially the same player) in the house, and would like to get her something of the same niche as the latter two for a similar price... Looking at about £70. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions ? Obviously I don`t want to get her the same as one already here as its a bit naff :/

I was looking at the players offered by Richer Sounds...

Anyhow hopefully someone can give me some ideas !

Tim

I bought a Dansai 955 from Tesco which, I believe, is now £79.99 and It comes with 3 free DVDs - Perfect Storm, Space Jam and Friends. (I think it`s essentially the same as a Schneider 855)

Although the DVDs are a bit naff the machine itself performs well - it can be remote hacked to be region free and is Dolby 5.1.

For the money it looks pretty good, too.

Try www.blankdiscshop.co.uk and look in the hardware section. The Yamada/Umax DVD player is a bargain at £64.99, It plays DVD, VCD, MP3, JPEG`s etc. and delivery is £3.99 and usually takes a couple of days.
