DVD, TV, CONNECTION PROBLEMS.

Hello all,
As you can see i`m new to all this. Heres the storey,
I have just connected my new Venturer home theatre system
( i know cheap s**t ) to my sanyo widescreen tv. All seems very
good when watching a dvd, great sound. The instruction book for
the dvd implies that i can get the sound from the tv when
watching a normal tv programme through the theatre system speakers. I`ve had no joy in trying to get this to happen, the book
says ther are 3 ways to connect my tv
1 RCA AUDIO/VIDEO JACKS
2 S-VIDEO JACK
3 SCART SOCKET.

There are 2 scart sockets on the back of my tv
AV1 with RGB
AV2 with S-inputs

On the front there are 3 inputs
VIDEO
AUDIO L/R

I`ve used the scart connection to AV1, like the book tells me
but it adds at the bottom of the page if you want the sound to
come from the speakers i need not connect the audio/video cable

I`ve tryed muteing the tv but get no sound when watching normal
tv programmes, if i leave the dvd switched on it defaults to
channel av1 on the tv ( blank screen ) i`ve tryed on standby
but again no sound.

kids going mad as i`ve been in front of the tv all night, trying
to get sound out of the speakers.

any help would be great, my wife and kids would also be
greatfull it would stpo me c**king it all up

many thanks

okbert

Is there anywhere in the menu that you can select tv rather than DVD?

Are you using a fully wired SCART lead?

Are there audio inputs on the system, have you tried them?

Good luck.

hello market,
in the menu i can select dvd or av in
how can i tell if it is a fully wired scart lead are they not all the same ?
on my tv there are no audio output plugs but i have audio inputs
on my dvd.
i thought that the scart lead sends and recieves all the signals
so the sound from my tv could be played trough my home
theatre system when watching normal tv.
i dont know if that helps, but thanks for sending a reply

Does your VCR have audio ouputs?
If so you can connect this to you system, just make sure your VCR is set to the same channel you`re watching.

It is true that scart leads will send and receive signals, but it can only do that if there is a signal in the first place. Check your TV manual to see if it does output sound through the scart sockets, and if so does it do so on all scart sockets as it may only output sound from 1 scart socket.
