DOES A YAMADA DVD-2100 NEED AN AMP FOR 5.1
Hi all i just want to know if a yamada dvd-2100 needs an amplifier to produse 5.1 through the speakers i got with my older grundig gdv 620 ht, which has the 5.1 speakers which work fine. I want to know if these can be connected directly to the yamada players 5.1 outlets on the rear,(with correct connectors added to the speaker wires), or will i need to buy an amp or rip the amp out of the old grundig unit and use that instead.
I bought the yamada as it plays nearly every format of disc and has 5.1, but i dont want to blow it up if i connect all those speakers to it if it has no onboard amp to power the speakers, there is no mention of this in the manual (the grundig unit is fine apart from it skips like hell on the second half of all my dvd`s). CHEERS ALL

I think you`ve realised that your new player has a decoder but no amplification on board. Whether you can plug your current speakers in to it depends on your speakers. I wouldn`t be suprised if the speakers you have (I assume they came with the Grundig) have built in amplification.
Do you plug all the cables from the DVD player into the sub, and then connect the other speakers to the sub? If so, it`s likely the sub contains the amplification. Alternatively, the Grundig may contain the amps, in which case all that would happen if you plugged the speakers into the back of the new player is that you`d hear nothing.
