Page 1 of SCART Peculiarities...Help!

Hmmm...having a few oddities with my setup; can anyone help? The setup is a fully wired SCART from Aiwa 370 DVD to AV1 on TV plus a fully wired SCART from VCR to AV2 on TV (the TV is a Thomson 28WS22). The DVD is set to RGB SCART and the VCR is VHS (ie not S-VHS).

Consider the following situation...you`re watching a DVD and you wish to quickly flick over to an off air channel (eg BBC1) to catch the news (or whatever). I get the sound of BBC1 but the video is an unsychronised picture of the DVD output. The unsync`d DVD video picture also happens if I select AV2 (VCR) or AV3 (nothing connected!) as the input to the TV.

This does not happen when the DVD is put into standby - everything is then what I would consider normal. It seems as though AV1 has taken over!!

Any suggestions very gratefully received.

It`s a telly thing.

Whats actually happening is that the AV from the TV is sending out signals from the output side of AV1 back to the next item!!

Check your TV setup for "AV2 output" settings, they may be set on AV1, and if they are, tweak until the problem disappears.
However, Toshiba, for example, give a different effect on a similar problem.

They output the current TUNER channel through AV1 all the time, so if you watch a device connected to AV1 on the TV, you geta "shadow" picture of the tuner on the screen, moving horizontally.

The cure for this type is to snip the pin that outputs the TV signal from the SCART. It`s either pin 19 or 20, but I always snip the wrong one! lol

If you do snip the wrong pin, resolder it and snip the other!!

I have this problem on my Hitachi TV too and I never got round to knowing what to do about it.

So what shall I do?

Thats a "generic" answer for any telly mate, have a go with the menu settings first.
