Page 1 of SVCD using Optical Lead???
Hardware Forum
I watch quite a few SVCD`s, but have recently bought an optical lead to go between the player and the amp. Am I right in saying that SVCD soundtracks cannot be played through optical? If so can I just use std. leads and choose between optical and analog inputs.
Can I use Coax?
RE: SVCD using Optical Lead???
I use optical & it goes into my Dolby 5.1 TV OK. I get full 5.1 sound out even on SVCDs, if they have the dolby encoding.
you can get the sound from the svcd from optical but i wont be in 5.1 it will be in ethier stereo or dolby surround
RE: SVCD using Optical Lead???
Sorry, Beastylad, you are wrong. I definately have true seperation from the back speakers with SVCD. Exactly the same as a DVD in Dolby 5.1.
o well i have never heard of it before but i could be wrong. what film do you have on svcd that is 5.1

This is an Optional Step! - Press the "Audio" menu and select the "Dolby Digital Decode" and choose if you want to create a "Dolby Surround Downmix", some users report better sound quality and surround with this option enabled.
Taken from a help file about dvd2avi ( program sometimes used in part of svcd making process )
