SVCD using Optical Lead???

mADSLug (Mostly Harmless) posted this on Thursday, 19th June 2003, 13:45

I watch quite a few SVCD`s, but have recently bought an optical lead to go between the player and the amp. Am I right in saying that SVCD soundtracks cannot be played through optical? If so can I just use std. leads and choose between optical and analog inputs.
Can I use Coax?

I use optical & it goes into my Dolby 5.1 TV OK. I get full 5.1 sound out even on SVCDs, if they have the dolby encoding.

Sorry, Beastylad, you are wrong. I definately have true seperation from the back speakers with SVCD. Exactly the same as a DVD in Dolby 5.1.

Quote:
This is an Optional Step! - Press the "Audio" menu and select the "Dolby Digital Decode" and choose if you want to create a "Dolby Surround Downmix", some users report better sound quality and surround with this option enabled.

Taken from a help file about dvd2avi ( program sometimes used in part of svcd making process )
