Managed to get sound from SVCD through optical lead. On DVD Player changed a setting from RAW to PCM, can anyone tell me what these settings are.
Cheers guys (& Gals)

RAW means the player sends out the raw audio bitstream from the disc - the amp needs to have the appropriate decoder (Dolby Digital, DTS, MPEG or whatever) to make sense of it.

PCM means that the player decodes the signal and outputs it as uncompressed 2-channel PCM (the same as you would get from an audio CD). Any digital amp or DAC should be capable of dealing with this signal.

Basically if a SVCD (or DVD) has a MPEG soundtrack, and your amp doesn`t have a MPEG audio decoder, then you need to have this set to PCM.
