Hi, I have the Panasonic e50. I also have the Pioneer ao5. Both great kit. I have just received the Panasonic DVD RAM writer from big pockets. It don`t come with any software but it plays RAM perfectly & you can use the cartridge type RAM. I am now downloading some software but would welcome any hints of which is best.

I bought the Panasonic LF-D311 DVD-RAM/-R writer last year when they were £180! Amazing how quickly they`ve fallen in price. I have a Hitachi DVD-RAM camcorder which uses miniature 8cm / 3 inch discs, the same format as the Panasonic DVD recorders but smaller capacity. I can insert the camcorder disc into the LF-D311 DVD writer and edit it using Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2.0 (select the option `Import DVD Video` and choose the DVD-RAM drive as the source.) You can then add the desired video clips to the project, create a menu and burn the finished result to a DVD-R that can be played on most normal DVD players. The software / hardware combination works reasonably well but the process is quite time-consuming. The LF-D311 takes 1 hour to write a full DVD plus all the time involved in authoring the disc in the first place. (can be several hours altogether).
