Scan SC2000 & AV6

Rob Wassell (Harmless) posted this on Tuesday, 23rd January 2001, 14:25

I have had CD Audio problems with my Scan, I have upgraded to 2.04 with no luck but after reading the items on this site will try 2.08, so we`ll see.

Has anyone got the AV6? I ordered both together and the AV6 Amplifier is impressive quality, although has some annoying problems.

1) Dolby Surround suffers a slight time delay so if you use the TV as the centre channel its very echoey.
2) Sound takes a few seconds to come through, probably the decoder-auto switching inside, cuts off first three seconds of CD Audio tracks etc.
3) If you pause a film in DTS or Dolby5.1 and play again, you get the same delay as point 1.
4) Sometimes when watching a film the sound goes off and then comes back again, possibly another auto-decoder switch.

Been speaking to Ryan who`s looking into these problems although hasn`t got back to me yet, anyone else suffering?

I got the same package but haven`t had a chance to try it out properly yet.

Have you had any feedback from Ryan yet?

Hi Rob,

1) I`ve found that on my setup (Aiwa 370 & Creative/Cambride DTT2500 DD5.1 speakers) that I also have a very slight delay (enough to cause echo effects like you describe) if I compare the TV`s output to the Digital decoded output.

2) I see this too, so I guess it`s not specific to your setup.

3) What if you don`t use the TV as the centre channel (you shouldn`t anyway, as the TV will also have the Left and Right components of the sound)

4) Yep - I get this too on layer changes. There`s nothing you can do about it.

Hope this helps!

Cheers,
