Philips DVDR-70 MP3 problems

paul mclaughlin (Harmless) posted this on Monday, 1st September 2003, 07:02

My Philips DVDR-70 seems to work with every format of disc and recording - except MP3.

When I put in a disc (CD-R) it comes up with the tag id for the track, but just skips past it. Sometimes a tenth of a second will play and occassionally (maybe three tracks on the disc) will play fully.

I called Philips and they said that the files needed to be renamed as 001.mp3, 002.mp3 etc. I tried this and still nothing.

Can anyone help?

cant answer your question - but i can say `philips` know jack about their products - they just seem to guess - which we`re all qualified to do - and here`s mine:

had a philips 635 seem to play mp3 ok

max filname length 8 characters - you can nest .mp3s to 1 folder depth (have you tried putting them in a folder)

folder navigation was a seperate play mode - you had to switch off `autorun` from the main preferences menu

also check the integrity of the .mp3`s on your p.c. - Windows media player will pretty well play anything (even if they`re corrupt files) - suggest you try to play them in a more dicerning application - you might find they`re corrupt & need to re-record
