Scan SC-2000 - Upgrading your Player Firmware.
I have tried the following firmware versions on my machine.
1.80, 187, 192, 193, 204, 204s, 208
The only version which I couldnt disable the macrovision was version 204.
Version 204s and 208 does not report that the macrovision is disabled. i.e. When “ADV7172 00000001” displays, macrovision free...
It reports ADV7172 00000003.... However, try recording to VHS..and if this fails, punch in the macrovision disable remote combination. SETUP – STEP – TITLE – PREV and try recording again...
If you have purchased a machine with version 1.64 firmware installed then if you have already upgraded past firmware version 1.80 and wish to upgrade to the latest firmware version 2.08 you should try downgrading to version 1.80 before installing 2.08... I installed 208 over 204s and the DVD image quality became pixellated..
I had to install version 1.80 twice to reset the firmware... i.e. displayed writing... Done....
This is my experience with the scan SC-2000 player purchased 1/11/2000 with firmware version 1.64 installed... No doubt other people have had other experiences..
p.s. Sometimes the sound disappears on my player. (Not very often at all) I just unplug the power, leave for 10 seconds and plug back in.
Maybe Nellish of scan should direct the manufacturers of the korean scan player to this web site ?....
RE: Scan SC-2000 - Upgrading your Player Firmware.
I have just installed 208 over 204s with no problem and have noticed the following
On 204s when 4:3 LB or 4:3 PS were selected the rotating disc on display would often stop rotating and the time display would often stop then jump 4 or 5 seconds and sometimes go backwards. This did not effect the playback and did not happen on 16:9 setting. After installing 208 this has now been corrected and the disc rotation/time is now ok on all settings.
Macro was disabled on 204s(00000003) and is still disabled on 208(00000003)
