Panasonic DMR-HS2 DVD Recorder

Hello,
I`m interested in buying a Panasonic DMR-HS2 DVD Recorder. However I`ve heard about something called the "black level bug". Does anyone here know if it effects UK machines, or is it just a problem with the American recorders?
